THE Zimbabwe National Motor Show will make a welcome return to the calendar this year after a break of a decade, with this prestigious platform for the motor industry scheduled to take place in Harare over two days in September.
Tommy Patterson, founder of the event and organiser of the original shows, as well as the revived show this year, said he had received positive feedback from a number of motor industry operators on his proposal to revive the event.
“As a result we shall hold it on Friday September 17 and Saturday September 18, the first day for the trade and the second open to the public at large,” he said.
The event is aimed at being a showcase for a wide range of exhibitors — from vehicle distributors to parts operations and from component manufacturers and distributors to suppliers of accessories and related goods and services.
It will be held in the Mashonaland Turf Club infield area, venue of the shows run in the 1990s and up to 2000, when it was last held.
“I carried out an exercise to determine whether there was a need for such an event and feedback from the motor industry has been very positive and contacts with people in the general public has indicated a strong keenness to attend,” said Mr Patterson.
“The first day will be an opportunity for business to be conducted as it will be a trade day, while the second day will be a public day, ideal for the whole family.
“It appears the market is ready for a motor show again and we aim to maintain and perhaps surpass the high standards achieved at the previous shows.”
Work has already gone into sourcing partners for the show and active recruiting of exhibitors will start within the next week.
