Editor - It seems like education in Zimbabwe is now a preserve for the rich, ministers, businesspeople and those living in low density suburbs.
When civil servants go on strike they are not affected. Their children continue going to school because they can afford to pay the teachers' incentives.
How long shall we live like this fellow Zimbabweans?
It's a cycle of poverty being perpetuated. Disadvantaged children continue be ing disadvantaged. Our children's universal rights to education are being compromised.
This inclusive government is failing the next generation. The educated future generation that must take over long after we are gone. What happened to universal access to education for all in Zimbabwe?

How true this is and as long as Minister Coltart continues pretending that everything is Ok becasue his teachers are the ones going on strike and not parents he is going to get a very rude awakening very soon. Minister Coltart should come to terms with the fact that there is a a huge unemplyment crisis in this country and most parents out there can not afford the ridiculous fees and incentives his schools are asking for. As we speak boarding schools have raised their fees by over 75% and parents must buy excercise books as well. We are informed these fees are approved by his officers in the ministry..we are told inflation is 2% so why are his officers approving these crazy figures..its like we are going back to the zimdollar error where everything was going up with each heartbeat.
Please Mr. Coltart look into this issue before it undoes all the good work you have done to date..or could it be your officers are getting a backhander from some of these schools who have their budgets approved without question. If this were true, then God save us all!
As a point of interest is there an economist among the approving committee? Outside increasing inflation Mazhambe's letter above is sound advice that he should take to heard
