Private schools fuelling inflation

E-mail Print PDF

Editor - Private schools and private learning institutions are fuelling inflation in this country. .

School fees for 2012 have gone up by between 20 and 40 percent from junior to senior schools.
This seems to be the norm every year.
Salaries and wages of individuals have not increased by these percentages.
We are in a United States dollar-based economy.
Why are these fees being increased  when inflation is hovering around five percent?
Private schools are now the most expensive in the region especially compared to neighbouring countries.
A private school in Avondale recently built a nursery school and overshot its budget by almost 50 percent.
We, as parents, ask the relevant authorities to look into these schools and stop this fleecing forthwith.

People will always charge whatever they want for their services as lon g as people are prepared to pay or should I say would pay just to maintain their status. Tell me if these children that oges to these private colleges or schools cannot go to gvt schools? They can but unfortunately it will negatively impact on parents status. These parents are paying for their status and for as long as they can pay then its all ok. Let them fight their own wars and not drag everyone into it. Kana murikuti kambudzi kazvarira paruzhinji kati ndidzingirwe imbwa, then our advise is just stop paying and take them kids to gvt schools.

the ccz, zctu, and many other civc organisations are nothing but toothless dogs who fail to mobliise the ma*ses against unjustified price increases, poor service delivery fro the likes of zesa and city councils that are the order of the day.
in the end what has been created are irresponsible and unaccountable public and private institutions that are created to fleece customers.

Falcon Collage is charging $4200 per term honestly is this reasonable, after all our kids come back home after every three weeks, this was an increase of $1000 from last terms fees, I am of the view that they are over paying the teachers, teachers there are earning m*re than some managers in mining companies and major companies too many people employed doing absolutely nothing, close the offices in Bulawayo and Harare to reduce costs, stop fleecing parents, these are hard times, stop all construction until such time the economy improves, Go to Falcon Collage and see for yourselves the good life the teachers are leaving, all teachers there own two cars each, the problem is that most children leaarning at Falcon are paid for by mining companies but us individuals paying for ourselves this is day light robbery, companies should also query these fees than just paying
