Editor —The Media Institute of Southern Africa Zimbabwe (MISA-Zimbabwe) national governing council regrets to announce the death of its long-serving staffer, Paul Zaru
Zaru or Nyati as he was otherwise known by his colleagues in the secretariat and within the MISA-Zimbabwe membership family, died on Sunday, 18 July 2010 at his Glen View home in Harare.
His death came as a great shock considering that he was his usual energetic-self the previous day when he went to pick staff at the airport.
According to his family, Zaru complained of severe chest and back pains on the fateful night.
Zaru joined MISA-Zimbabwe in July 1999 and served the organisation with admirable dedication, commitment and professionalism throughout his 11 years with MISA-Zimbabwe.
His death has robbed MISA-Zimbabwe of its repository of institutional memory.
A friend, brother, colleague and father-figure has passed on. We will always cherish his principled work ethic and manner of interaction with his colleagues in the secretariat despite the generational gap that existed between him and the rest of the team members.
Our deepest condolences to his wife, children, relatives and friends.
As you rest in eternal peace Nyati, take comfort in the knowledge that you will be sorely missed and remembered by all at MISA-Zimbabwe
