Removal of sanctions not MDC-T’s business

E-mail Print PDF

Editor — The MDC-T has no business in calling for the removal of restrictive measures imposed on senior Zanu-PF officials.

If the MDC-T goes by Zanu-PF’s demands that the restrictive measures imposed on President Robert Mugabe and his associates be lifted, it would become an accomplice in supporting and defending Zanu-PF, which should be made to account for its sins. This can only happen if the party is sincere enough and reform for the good of the country and for its own survival.
The EU and the USA have been clear that they will not lift the travel bans on the Zanu-PF officials as they have been no tangible improvement in uplifting human rights in the country. Zimbabwe is still a country where people are arrested on flimsy political charges.
MPs from the MDC-T continue to be arrested on spurious charges. As we speak, six MPs from the MDC-T were arrested this week in Masvingo on laughable charges of beating people at a Copac meeting.
Yet Zanu-PF wants the issue of lifting restrictive measures addressed by the MDC-T when itself is not doing anything to show that true reforms are taking place on the ground.

The greatest sanctions are those placed by the people of Zimbabwe on March 31. Next year m*re and serious ones are coming!
We are always told that the restrictions by the West are not having any effect but then come the next day, every Zanu PF member lament their bad effect. So what is the true state of the restrictions?
Iran- our partner- is on 100% sanctions but we have never heard them cry about the sanctions, watch Press TV imi magandanga .

boniface moyo lets call a spade a spade. try to read zdera. the point is these sanctions are illegal at international law this is why they are practiced by those countries who want regime change in zimbabwe. ko kufunga kunonet*a here shamwari. what this means is that they (sanctions) are not legally binding to all nations and hence our trade with other countries. forget about travel resrictions and read ZDERA.

It is true that Tsw**girai and the MDC cannot advocate for the removal of sanctions in Zimbabwe under the Government of ZANU PF, simple because this will be against their own policy. The main aim to be achieved by the Regime Change Strategy of which the MDC is part, is to remove from power President Robert Mugabe and the ZANU PF party to be replaced by m*rgen Tsw**girai and the MDC. If sanctions are an aly of the regime change strategy, how then can Tsw**girai be seen to be interferring the vehicle which is surposed to put him in power. Therefore the continued presence of santions in Zimbabwe, are to undermine the perfomance of ZANU PF and President Mugabe, leading to his down fall and that of the party, so that Tsw**girai and the MDC offers a replacement. There are no sanctions that can work against any country that has such natinional resources as Zimbabwe. All countries of the world would like to deal with Zimbabwe.

surely speaking it not the responsibility of mdc to have travel bans lifted. i feel shame to you my fellow mates who can not distinguish between white and black. if they were sanctions we would have been barred in all aspects of life including trading with other countries, travelling , sending our troops and police on un missions.we are educated, lets not be biased, lets call a spade a spade.

what is laughable when mps beat up people on a copac mission. should they (the mps) be left off the hook just because they are mps or rather untouchables. maybe they should be treated as holy cows? the law is the law and it will take its course. i say lock them up and throw the key in lake manyame. they should be teaching people tolerance not violence.
on the other issue mdc drafted and globe trotted to have sanctions effected on zimbabwe. therefore they are the ones to be in the forefront by asking their removal. who cares about travel and restrictive measure. sanctions are what you get in black and white doc*ment called zidera. funga hama yangu Agrippa Zvomuya
