WITH the memory and scars of the country’s hotly-contested national elections now beginning to fade, the local business community wants Zimbabwe’s new government to tackle head-on all the challenges facing the ailing economy. Topping the list of issues that industry and commerce want to see fixed urgently are the country’s poor policies and fiscal indiscipline, as well as corruption, ballooning debt levels, widening trade deficit, liquidity and cash crisis, foreign currency shortages, high poverty levels and worsening unemployment figures, among other challenges.
