Game of Thrones Season 8 Ep 3 Becomes Most-Tweeted TV Episode In History
The third episode of Game of Thrones made a lot of waves in the early hours and the rest of Monday. So much so that the episode became the most tweeted about scripted TV episode in history. I can only imagine how frustrating being on Twitter was if you a) don’t watch the show b) you do but you want to avoid spoilers.
With more than 7.8 million tweets the episode garnered more tweets than any other TV show in history. If you haven’t watched the episode it might be worth a watch and it was personally my favourite since I started watching the show back in 2014.
As a testament to Game of Thrones quality, the season premiere last month is also the second most tweeted about episode with over 5 million tweets.
Though the episode was brilliant, fans were not entirely pleased by the lighting of the episode as some (myself included) felt it was simply too dark.
The cinematographer of the show said the lighting was intentionally dark:
The showrunners decided that this had to be a dark episode, we’d seen so many battle scenes over the years – to make it truly impactful and to care for the characters, you have to find a unique way of portraying the story.
Everything we wanted people to see is there.
….Oh he also said you should learn to tune your TV:
A lot of the problem is that a lot of people don’t know how to tune their TVs properly. A lot of people also, unfortunately, watch it on small iPads, which in no way can do justice to a show like that anyway.
